LitPol Link, established in May, 2008, is the coordinator of the preparatory works for the construction of Lithuania-Poland power interconnection.
50 per cent of LitPol Link's shares belong to Litgrid AB and the remaining 50 per cent to PSE Operator S.A., both the national transmission system operators.
The aim of LitPol Link is to prepare the technical project for the power interconnection between Lithuania and Poland, set the route line, prepare the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), deal with the land ownership issues, obtain the necessary permits and carry out other preparatory works crucial for the investment project.
LitPol Link coordinates works related to the realization of interconnection betweeen Poland and Lithuania consisting of 400kV overhead double-circuit transmission line Alytus-Ełk with the modern substation in Alytus.
The new power interconnection will allow Lithuania and other Baltic States to join the Western European Electricity System.
