Polish energy system

PSE Operator is the Polish Transmission System Operator who is responsible for ensuring certainty and stability of electricity supply to the customers.

One of the main objectives of PSE Operator is to ensure secure and cost-effective operation of the Polish Transmission System, taking account of cross-border exchanges in electricity

PSE Operator is responsible for the national security of electricity supply by responsible conservation, reparation and transmission system development with regard for environment.

PSE Operator S.A. as an owner of stations and high voltage trasnsmission lines, effectively maintains an electricity traffic in the transmission system at the same time ensuring reliability and quality of energy supply, and also coordinates the partial works of 110 kV network with cooperation of the Dystribution System Operators.

The network assets of PSE Operator S.A. include the following facilities:

  • 236 lines of total length amounting to 13 053 km, including:
    • 1 line of 750 kV voltage of total length amounting to 114 km,
    • 68 lines of 400 kV voltage of total length amounting to 5 031 km,
    • 167 lines of 220 kV voltage of total length amounting to 7 908 km,
  • 106  high voltage substations.

Polish Energy System is the largest system in Central and East Europe (CEE) and consists of:

  • Electricity generation -power plants, combined heat and power, renewable and diffuse sources,
  • Power energy transmission - transport of energy from plants to distribution companies implemented in high voltage networks (220 kV and 400 kV).
  • Distribution and supply of power energy, through the distribution 110 kV and lower voltage grid owned by distribution system operators.
